Neteller Co-Founder Stephen Lawrence Pleads Guilty To Conspiracy

Law, 2007-06-30, by TwoGun

Stephen Lawrence, one of the two co-founders of Neteller, has plead guilty to a charge of criminal conspiracy. He will face up to a five year prison sentence. The sentencing hearing will be held October 29.

In a Manhattan courtroom, Lawrence admitted he believed the company acted illegally in the past. He has been quoted as saying:

"I came to understand that providing payment services to online gambling Web sites serving customers in the United States was wrong."

The case against Neteller's other co-founder John Lefebvre is still pending. So far, Lefebvre has plead not guilty.
